Make Your Mark Consultation

We seized the opportunity to organise a design & planning charrette to help write any future local plan for East Pollokshields & Port Eglinton. Charrettes, an intense type of consultation over one week, are normally undertaken by local authorities but in this case PCC raised funds with a matching contribution from the Scottish Govt to mount a major local consultation.

The ‘Make Your Mark’ charrette invited local residents to contribute views on planning issues. The consultation has the endorsement of major Glasgow City Council operating departments and local councillors and should become an integral part of future city plans. This was Glasgow’s first community-led event of this type.

‘Make Your Mark’ discussed with residents of East Pollokshields & Port Eglinton, Scotland’s most diverse community which is also high on multiple indexes of deprivation. The consultation examined existing social and economic problems and proposed solutions to tackle problems and generate economic growth.

It also consulted on the best long-term way to introduce real community power by establishing a strong community anchor organisation to carry forward recommendations.

Meetings took place at various locations in the burgh including a mobile charrette in schools and other public places etc. After the formal consultation a public report-back and Q&A session with local councillors will be held in mid-March on the draft report.
